Actaeon

In the centuries past, the beautiful Actaeon were friends to all creatures and welcomed everyone into their lush home in the mountains. With the turn of the century, though, they were hunted to extinction for their precious horns, which were rumored to be teeming with healing magic. The rumor was only half-right: the magic in the Actaeon’s horns enabled them to live again as skeletons, forever haunting the mountain they once called home, eager to wreak their vengeance on those who took their lives and bless those who tried in vain to save their species.

Akoleid

No one truly knew if Akoleid existed until recently. Photographs, oral legends, sighting accounts... all evidence seemed to be hoaxes, created for attention. One summer solstice, when the temperature reached a record high, many of these creatures rose from their homes on the ocean floor and migrated to land. Little information is known about these amphibious creatures, but the stark rise in their popularity has encouraged most Akoleid to sink under the sea once again.

Aquas

A rather pacifistic species, the amphibious Aquas has never once been at war with humans. With a gentle disposition and benevolent reputation, Aquas have assisted humans and creatures alike in various tasks and projects throughout all of history, both marine and terrestrial. They have the unique power of shapeshifting, though most prefer to stick to their true forms. A common legend holds that Aquas take the shape of human bodies and influence crucial decisions by whispering in the ears of kings.

Arlit

The Arlit, very much like the Scarab Beetle of Ancient Egypt, once had been worshiped and held in high regard. It was said that these strange, bug-like creatures were the ones to roll the sun into the sky every day. A rumor once went around that a mummified Arlit would bring great wealth and a long life to the human it belonged to, but the rumor has since been proven false. Arlit have once more began to roam the land as normal creatures.

Bewhild

The Bewhild is a relative to the Cerberus, the 3 headed hound that guards the way into the Underworld. It is a vicious beast who loves to devour. It is a strong creature who is capable of seeing the past with one head, the present with another and the future with the third. In battle there are few who can defeat this creature from the Underworld!

Caspensis

With hooves strong enough to crush an Akoleid�s shell and a tail strong enough to change currents, the Caspensis is not a creature to be underestimated. Though they tend to keep to themselves, Caspensis will not hesitate to invoke the wrath of the gods if provoked. They are the swiftest creatures in the sea, though they can�t be considered as graceful on land. They say that no one who fights a Caspensis emerges victorious, and Caspensis are more than proud enough to entertain that rumor.

Cavian
Alignment: Lightened Pantheon: Lux Common
The Kindest of all creatures is the Cavian, if heart were an award they could win it would be Gold. Cavians quarrel with no other creature or species and will help, tend or take care of any other being regardless of alignment or Pantheon. These winged creatures live in mountainous areas and will aid and encourage anyone who crosses their paths, while they ask for nothing in return for their help, their hearts have been known to harden to helping others when they witness someone they have helped or healed, harming others.

Clawfur

In the days of old, the Clawfur was worshipped as a deity in ancient Tenelm. They were thought to bring fortune and fertility to the archaic civilization that built around them. Often were they presumed to be immortal, reincarnated from past lives that had already been mummified, as Clawfur are born with bandages attached like fur to their skin. Though they may be small, these creatures are quick thinkers and stealthy hunters with personalities favoring mischief.

Dactyl

Lonely at heart, the Dactyl is a shy creature that lives a solitary life. Dactyl only live in small family groups when they are adolescents; once they are old enough to fend for themselves, they leave the nest and look for a home of their own. Despite living alone, the Dactyl craves interaction: it just doesnt know how to go about making friends. Some nights, when the moon is full, the Dactyl will venture out into civilization and follow the paths where the lights are brightest. The moment it is noticed, the Dactyl will shrink back to its territory, waiting to appear on the next full moon.

Deatile

Prone to burning, Deatile prefer to spend their afternoons submerged in the sands of Tenelm. Travelers have to pay attention to where they walk, lest they step on the face of a Deatile and provoke it. This prideful species has the power to heal others, though theyre very picky with which weary individuals receive their treatment. The Deatile has become a legend in Tenelm and is often heard in old wives tales, reminding adolescents and adults alike to watch their steps.

Dejaroo
Alignment: Lightened Pantheon: Lux Common
A prankster at heart, the Dejaroo is famously adored by the general population and is portrayed on much merchandise. While these creatures exhibit no hostility toward humans or other species, they do have the boldness to utilize simple magic to fool unsuspecting victims whilst hiding in the tops of trees. Their japes are harmless�mere illusions that many people chalk up to just their own eyes playing tricks on them.

Denret

Denrets are descendants of the Azeban creatures. They are tricksters and known for getting food from unsuspecting travelers. They are often found to be doing foolish things and get themselves caught up in a great deal of mischief.

Fenrir
Alignment: Darkened Pantheon: Tenebris Common
Dark and foreboding beasts, Fenrir only associate themselves with the bravest of adventurers and warriors. These cunning creatures exploit the feeble and weak for their own gain. There have been many recorded instances where a Fenrir has promised a weary adventurer whatever they need in exchange for ten years of the adventurer�s lifespan. When given the years, the Fenrir fulfills its side of the promise, but not without a catch. As such, many Fenrir seen skulking around are actually hundreds of years old.

Feorag

Nimble and fast like the Ratatoskr of Norway, the Feorag is quick in battle. It is capable of racing up and down trees in the blink of an eye. They are also messengers to creatures who are ground bound and those who soar in the air.

Gaipas
Alignment: Neutral Pantheon: Neutrum Common
Haughty creatures to the core, the Gaipas does not like to associate with any beings it deems to be below it. Gaipas turn their noses up at those who take pleasure in the simple things in life. They tend to hoard gold and other shiny objects. When their collections become particularly large, they gloat in any open forum they can. Gaipas are known to swindle travelers and tourists, so take caution around unfamiliar friendly faces. Not all Gaipas are bad, though: some of them have hearts of gold that weigh as much as their treasure hoards!

Gremlick

The Gremlick, like its cousin the Petsuchos, are considered to be sons of Sobek. They are honored and revered crocodile like creatures. They are noble beings yet fierce in battle; able to bite or use its dagger like claws to fight.

Illuminaire
Alignment: Lightened Pantheon: Lux Common
No creature grows faster than the Illuminaire. After a few short days, Illuminaire already stand taller than a young human. The record for largest Illuminaire has not been measured; it�s impossible to guess to what heights these creatures can grow, as they continue increasing in size with every passing year. One of the largest known Illuminaire was as big as its companion�s house! The Illuminaire is considered by many to cast fortune to anything that falls within its shadow.

Kitsu

With time, a Kitsu�s magical abilities increase in power and rival that of powerful wizards. They have the longest natural lifespan of any creature; many human families will take in a Kitsu to be a companion throughout generations. An experienced Kitsu can create an illusion that alters its physical appearance, which the sly creature then uses to its advantage or to fool others. Most undomesticated Kitsu are hard to detect because they rarely remain in their natural forms.

Leapex

The Leapex is a beloved creature of the frog-goddess Heqet. It has a quick and powerful leaping ability which it can use to defend itself when under attack. They are known to help plants to grow and bloom.

Leo
Alignment: Lightened Pantheon: Lux Rare
These fierce creatures rule the Battle Stadium. Leo are built for fighting: their fur acts as a natural shield, blocking most any attack, and their claws can cleanly cut through even the highest class of armor. They are boastful beasts and love to hear and tell stories of war. Leo are so versatile that they can live most anywhere, but they must always be accompanied by one or more other creatures. These social creatures exhibit fierce loyalty to those they consider their �pride.�

Maarak

These enormous, solitary creatures live on the seafloor and feed by reaching up and spearing unsuspecting prey with their sharp talons. They have the unique capability of shrinking in size; though Maarak can take on any height and weight they wish, many of them choose to remain gargantuan in the ocean. Most Maarak never venture out of the water during their lifetimes, but they do have the ability to thrive on land as well. Terrestrial Maarak prove to be some of the strongest creatures around, as their forelimb muscles develop that much more to drag themselves around.

Nisege

These creatures are so shy that hardly any human has reported seeing them. Nisege live in underwater trenches, too inaccessible for most terrestrial visitors. There is a legend, though, that Nisege appear to those who are honest and pure of heart, making anyone who befriends one a legend in his or her own right. Nisege are gentle, soft-spoken beasts who prefer their presence to be felt rather than heard, but if someone poses a threat to them, the Nisege will not hesitate to strike them down.

Omnis

Because their kind takes a few moons to learn how to fly, young Omnis are often bound to the grass. Predators see them as an easy snack, so Omnis have adapted to grow plate-like scales on many vulnerable parts of their bodies. These plates grow with them and serve as excellent armor in battles. Omnis would rather defend themselves than attack another creature, so many of their fighting styles reflect dodging and fleeing. They seek to help only their own kind and are wary of strangers.

Owbas

Have you ever heard a noise behind you, yet found nothing there when you turned around? You may have been followed by an Owbas. These little creatures mean no ill will; they simply prefer to observe those around them rather than to interact with them themselves. No one should be alarmed by the presence of Owbas. In fact, if an Owbas senses that the being it is following is in danger, it will cry out and call other Owbas to the spot. Because of the way they aid other beings, many cultures consider Owbas guardians and respect them, feeling honored rather than apprehensive of their presence.

Pheorn
Alignment: Enlightened Pantheon: Caelesti Rare
One of the elusive Enlightened creatures, the Pheorn chooses only to show itself to determined individuals who have triumphed over a great challenge. They long to be companions of strong survivors, as they, too, were once survivors of a great calamity. After the nests of Pheorn were burned, young Pheorn emerged from the ashes of their old bodies. Now, these creatures control flames and, after their long lives are finished, they are consumed by their own internal fire, and the next generation is reincarnated from those ashes.

Rah

A descendant of Tecciztecatl, the Rah is a noble creature. Impermeable to fire, the Rah has been known to throw itself into the flame as an offerance of food like other Moon Rabbits. It is difficult to destroy in battle as it knows the secrets to the elixir of immortality.

Rhypher
Alignment: Darkened Pantheon: Tenebris Common
Experts on body language, Rhypher can mimic any creature with aplomb. They are tricksters who rely on vicious pranks to bring amusement to their days. When they aren�t pulling pranks, Rhypher observe silently from walls and roofs of buildings, drinking in new information from passersby and searching for their next victim. Because they can copy and alter any noise, many believe that Rhypher were the creatures to invent language.

Rodentra

If you see the form of a feline scuttling by in the night, it isn’t a Clawfur—likely, it’s a Rodentra. These hulking rats are far larger than any normal rodent and can frighten many individuals with a single glint of their beady eyes. Rodentra have a close connection with death and will do all that they can to cushion the passing of a fellow being, especially those who have no one to mourn them. Feral Rodentra are often found lingering by cemeteries, ensuring that no one disturbs graves and intimidating the ones who come too close.

Stryker

The Stryker is regaled for its physical prowess. These creatures are graceful in the air, but unrelenting to anyone who might be at the end of their claws. While Stryker dont use magic, many legends surround the beasts, boasting of its feathers curative properties. As such, many efforts have been made to preserve the Stryker in fear of the species being hunted by greedy individuals. Luckily, Stryker are astute and great judges of character, so they dont freely give their trust to just anyone, especially poachers.

Suitatsu

Knowledgeable and wise, Suitatu are highly respected by humans and creatures alike. They can live for thousands of yearsthe length of a Suitatsus horns demonstrates just how old it is. Though Suitatus may not be capable of casting magic, their wisdom is sought after by explorers and scholars. They are pacifistic and prefer to live in solitude, but they dont mind befriending the right kind of human, one who can keep up with their intellectual discussions.

Swifte
Alignment: Neutral Pantheon: Neutrum Common
Though they may be small, Swifte are not to be underestimated, neither by allies nor foes. They can carry seven times their body weight on their backs and have the unique ability to rapidly learn languages, making them excellent traveling companions. An ancient Emestarian legend notes that, in a time of drought, rainclouds were carried in on the backs of a flock of Swifte. Many residents of Emestar still look upon the creature as a deity, though many modern Swifte are completely unaware of the legend.

Theron

Often used as guardians of homes and families, Theron are fiercely loyal to their loved ones. The Theron is a devoted creature�once it meets someone it likes, it is forever bonded to that individual and will grieve if it is ever separated from them. Because of its close attachment to someone, it will protect that important individual to its last breath. Theron can be savage enemies or passionate companions depending upon how someone views them.

Tianzum
Alignment: Neutral Pantheon: Neutrum Common
In all legends, the Tianzum is not looked upon with favor. It is considered a being of darkness, and its appearance alone can frighten many. Tianzum are not bad creatures, thoughit is the rumors and the legends passed down for generations that make them out to be beasts. They are typically calm and gentle creatures, though they do refuse to associate with any creatures that belong to the Lux Pantheon for fear of being judged. Some of the most generous Tianzum regularly take other creatures for rides, rewarding their trust with the Tianzums infallible friendship.

Trixy
Alignment: Lightened Pantheon: Lux Common
Known most famously for their luxurious, thick fur, Trixy reside in colder climates and cannot tolerate heat. The Trixy is a mild creature, which has led to many attempts by humans to domesticate it. Trixy don’t enjoy being “pets”; rather, their intelligence quotients are high, and they like to communicate with humans and other creatures alike. Trixy are known to be excellent debaters. Though they live comfortable lives around other species, Trixy will often display secret body language that only other Trixy understand, proving that these cunning creatures never fully trust anyone.

Ursaslestia
Alignment: Enlightened Pantheon: Caelesti Rare
On starry summer nights, groups of Ursaslestia can be seen in the skies, blending in with other constellations. They watch over all the creatures of Mythodreas from Caelesti to Obscure and even the spawn. from the solace of their home in the skies. In the winter months when Ursaslestia are hibernating, the stars on their pelts grow dimmer and dimmer until they cannot e seen in the skies at all. Occasionally, Ursaslestia will create a path of stars down to Mythos so that they may walk amongst the other creatures.

Venom
Alignment: Darkened Pantheon: Tenebris Common
The Venom is a very tenacious creature with impressive stamina. Once a Venom targets its prey, it will follow the victim until they become too tired to carry on—then, the Venom strikes. Older, more experienced Venom are able to kill with a single glare. Venom tend to avoid crowds and prefer to live on the outskirts of cities. Legend says that the end of Mythodreas is nigh when Venom begin to confuse their own tails for prey, effectively swallowing themselves whole.

Vortailer
Alignment: Lightened Pantheon: Lux Common
The Vortailer is a favored pet of Serket. Like the scorpion, the Vortailer has a a paralyzing sting which causes its victims throat to close inducing death. It also has pincer claws in the front to help immobilize its prey while it weights for the stinging venom to paralyze it.

Zethyc
Alignment: Neutral Pantheon: Neutrum Common
When faced with confrontation, the Zethyc will always choose to fight. Zethyc are initially hostile to anyone they meet, requiring an individual to prove they are trustworthy before a Zethyc will lower its guard. Its aloof and independent behavior can be attributed to its feline qualities. When cornered, the Zethyc gives a warning hiss before lashing out with its claws and scythe-like limbs. Though it is far from the most affectionate partner someone could have, a Zethyc provides fine company all the same.
